Magnolia’s River Road Campus

THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL FEST!!!
Magnolia Fest held on Saturday, March 29th was a success!
With standing room crowds, and sun shine throughout the day (thank goodness!) we celebrated and supported people with developmental disabilities and the clients of Magnolia Community Services. We engaged with our clients, families and the community!
Featured entertainment started with a performance from the Pussyfooters, followed by a second line led by the Green Wave Brass Band and the Krewe of Tucks. The entourage marched throughout the Magnolia campus. After the second line, the Jefferson Community Band played a wide spectrum of music from Sinatra to Taylor Swift! Love’s Music Therapy then took the stage featuring musical performances from students with IDD. After Love’s, Darrell Lane Galatas and Paul Wilson treated guests to their Americana repertoire with vocals on guitar. Closing the Fest, Delfeayo Marsalis and the Uptown Jazz Orchestra engaged with the crowd delivering a wonderful jazz experience. We all loved hearing Carl Russel, a Magnolia client, on stage singing “Return to Sender” with the Orchestra!
Nobody went home hungry at Mag Fest! Alden Settoon’s jambalaya, generously underwritten by Karl Senner, was a hit! We also enjoyed boiled crawfish donated by Louisiana Seafood. We are grateful to Kiwanis Dawn Busters Club members who prepared and cooked the Fest food from hamburgers and hotdogs to the crawfish! We could not have done it without you!
Family fun was had with our Pirate Swing ride, Domino Sugar Game booth. Face painting and the Krewe of Tucks’ Umbrella decorating table. And we enjoyed our local artists with community vendors exhibiting wares from scented candles, and gourmet chocolate to painted wall hangings and ceramics. We were proud to launch Magnolia Artworx, a retail store featuring client made artwork. Be on the look out for our gallery opening within the year!
We want to personally thank you for your part in making Magnolia Fest 2025 a fun and engaging community celebration. From generous sponsors and in-kind donors, to volunteers and vendors, your contribution to Magnolia Fest has and will make an impact on the lives of people living with developmental disabilities and their families.
We look forward to celebrating our next Magnolia Fest during Intellectual and Developmental Awareness Month – March of 2026!
